The conference proceedings Region in the Development of Society 2025 focus on Central Europe and the Visegrad region as a distinctive socio-economic and political space undergoing long-term transformation. The collected peer-reviewed papers analyse regional development processes in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary, with selected comparative perspectives extending beyond the V4. The volume addresses key challenges facing the region, including regional disparities, post-socialist institutional development, labour markets, social cohesion, public administration, security, sustainability, and the impacts of digitalisation and artificial intelligence. Particular attention is paid to the role of European integration, cross-border cooperation, and regional governance in shaping development trajectories. By combining theoretical reflection, empirical research, and policy-oriented case studies, the proceedings contribut! e to a deeper understanding of Central Europe’s specific development patterns and its position within broader European and global contexts.
